3 Benefits of Meditation on the Word of God

One of my favorite Bible verses is Joshua 1:8. My life changed when I learned how meditate. It's a pretty powerful way to build your faith and renew your mind. Here's what the Bible says will happen if you meditate on God's Word.

First you will observe and do whatever you meditate on. What you meditate on gets inside of you and becomes real to you. It changes your thoughts to believe that you can have what Bible says is yours. This in turn causes your actions to change and line up with the Word of God.

The second thing that it says is that you will make your way prosperous. From looking up the word "way" in the Strongs concordance, I get the impression that it’s talking about habits- the way we talk and act. We start getting habits that make us successful.

This verse says (if you do this) you will have good success. To me, good success is being successful in every area of life- spiritually, financially, physically, mentally etc. A person might have limited success apart from God but it won’t be total success. In other Words, they might have a lot of money but no peace or they might have a good marriage but no money.  God obviously wants us to be successful in every area of life.

I have a poster hanging in my bedroom to remind me to meditate all the time.

Scriptural Confession for Strength and Energy

I encounter many people who talk about constantly being tired. A lot of that has to do with stress and being too busy to get enough sleep and properly take care of our bodies.

I personally want to get to a place where I'm not dependent on caffeine in order to function so...  I created a scriptural confession that I speak over myself every day:

"The Holy Spirit energizes my body- so I always have lots of energy. I am strong, energetic and powerful. I rise up with wings like eagles, I run and don't get weary, I walk and don't grow weak." from Romans 8:11, Isaiah 40: 29-31

Scriptural Confession for Children: Free Printable

By Lorene Troyer

Here is a scriptural confession for children that can be printed off. If you are a Sunday school teacher, feel free to implement it into your weekly lessons. I like to say it out loud and have the children repeat it after me. It's a great way to get these scriptures inside of them.

How to Get Rid of a Headache: My Personal Experience

By Lorene Troyer

As far back as I can remember, I've dealt with headaches.  I usually took various types of pain pills and just hoped they would work. Eventually I got to the place where I would have to take 7 or 8 pills before I finally got some relief.

I frequently listen to faith messages by Kenneth Hagin and I'd hear him talk about how he hadn't had a headache in 50 plus years (because he would resist them in the name of Jesus). I wanted that for myself so bad- but it seemed like when I tried to resist the headaches, they just got worse:)

Well, one day, I was hit with another bad headache. I did not want to start taking pain pills because they might or might not work and I knew they weren't good for me. I told myself, I was going to sit and speak scriptures out of my mouth till the headache left, no matter how many hours it took.

I went to Isaiah 53:4 and started saying, "Jesus bore my pains. Because Jesus bore my pains, I never have headaches another day in my life. Jesus bore my pains so I am free from headaches. Jesus bore my pains so I live a pain-free life. Today is a pain-free day." I said it over and over as I thought about  Jesus being whipped so we could be free from pain.

To my happy surprise, the headache was totally gone after 23 minutes.  Well, I took note and whenever a headache showed up after that, I followed this same method and the headache left.

Since that time I have also learned to meditate on John 14:13, "And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything in my name I will do it."

After I meditate on that scripture, I can simply say, "Headache, I speak to you and I command you to leave my presence right now in Jesus name!"

Note: When I've had really bad headaches, it has taken me up to an hour or longer to get rid of them, I'm not sure why that is- possibly because it was hard not to focus on the headache.

I've also learned that I need to walk in love, stay out of strife and be quick to forgive. I can't be all upset with a family member and expect my faith to work. (Faith worketh by love, Gal. 5:6).

I also learned that I need to use wisdom and take care of my body. I can't eat junk food all the time or spend 6 hours nonstop looking at a computer screen and expect to live a pain free life.

Anger Management Activity For Children: Using the Word of God

By Lorene Troyer

Here is a testimony from a parent whose son overcame an anger problem.  The son would frequently get angry and would literally fly into a rage, sometimes even hurting other kids. The boy was born again and was really a good kid. He would always apologize and feel remorseful after it happened.

The parents tried to get him to change by spanking, begging, bribing, taking away privileges- all with limited success.

The mother realized that part of the problem may have stemmed from a poor diet (too much junk food). She also noted that it was more of a problem at night when the boy was tired.

The mother made an effort to implement healthier foods into his diet and steered him away from stressful situations at night when he was tired.  The thing that helped the most though, was when the mother gave the child a 3 x 5 index card and asked him to write, "I am patient and kind and I am not easily angered." (1 Corinthians 13:4).  She then asked him to read it out loud 20 times (slowly, as he thought about what he read.) every day.

This seems like such a simple solution to a problem that could be highly complex, but I am happy to report that the boy has had no more anger outbursts since doing this.
